Synchronization of Ethereum 1 and Ethereum 2 took place in test mode

Not so long ago, a long-awaited event in the world of cryptocurrency happened - the developers launched the first test network, based on the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. It is expected that after the start of the full functioning of the project, the possibility of interaction will be available for Ethereum clients, regardless of the version. At the moment, the world saw a far from final version, but holding a test event will help to fix the flaws and shortcomings in order to eliminate them.

The majority of Teku, Lighthouse, Nimbus and Prysm clients operate on the eth2 network, while Geth, Besu and Nethermind use the modern eth1 blockchain. During the launch of the testnet, the developers planned to activate only some slots, but unexpectedly for themselves, they noticed an intensive spread to various forks. Despite this twist, the first test is considered a success.

“At the moment it is difficult to talk about the stability of the test network, since it is not finalized. In fact, this is just a tool that will help developers with debugging clients. A new user-centric testnet will be launched in a few weeks. In order to reach this stage, the developers will ensure the complete stability of the network. "

Many clients were outraged because they were unable to fully operate due to severe disruptions. The testnet would not have been able to launch without these consequences, especially given its current stage. Despite all the side effects, experts are glad that theoretical developments are starting to turn into functioning code. Loerakker believes that the team has worked productively to create the first testnet, which is showing progress in installation and integration.

In the future, absolutely all miners who are currently working with the Proof-of-Work consensus model will disappear from the network. The stakers of the new network will be responsible for them. This solution began to be developed in 2019, and is finally gradually being translated into reality.

Only the initial stage has been passed, far from one launch awaits the developers ahead. The final stage in testing will be the launch of the public testnet. The transition to the new network is scheduled for December this year. Before that happens, it will be refined several times.
